Upon completing his Clinical Fellowship Year at Scioto Memorial Hospital and earning his Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association (CCCs) in late 1983, he moved to Ft. Myers, Florida, to take a position as an audiologist in a large private practice where he practiced until 1985. He founded a private audiology practice, Hearing Care Center, in Ft. Myers in 1985 where it grew to include four office locations and employed five audiologists. He was President of Metro Medical Plaza Inc., and managed the multi-specialty complex where his Ft. Myers office was located. Joe remained active clinically and provided services for the Veterans Administration, Gulf Coast Center (a residential facility for the multiply- handicapped), and was on staff at local hospitals. Hearing Care Center was purchased by an international company in 2004, and Joe took on the role of area manager for South Florida until 2006. He decided to move to Chattanooga with his family to be nearer to his family there. During the transition, he was a Product Design Audiologist for Starkey Laboratories. He began practice at Holmes Audiology in 2008, also serving as Director of Audiology for ENT Solutions in Blairsville GA from 2009 until 2012. He now practices at his premises at 3926 Dayton Blvd. in Red Bank, 8151 Hixson Pike in Hixson, and 12136 S. Main St in Trenton GA. Joe is also an amateur guitarist and singer/songwriter. He has developed a small recording studio at the Red Bank office where he also pursues production efforts with Skwalking Heads Productions.
Paula and Joe have been married for over 30 years and have six wonderful children. Paula has a B.A. in English from Wheeling Jesuit College, and an M.A. in English from Michigan State University. Paula has served as faculty at Community Colleges and Universities, and as editor for fiction and textbooks. She now manages the front office activities for Holmes Audiology. Paula is the one to ask if you have questions about insurance coverage or billing.
